DHA promotes the accumulation of phosphatidylserine
Several scholars have found that phosphatidylserine can affect some neural functions.
● Professional research1
Researchers Guo et al found by culturing neural 2A cells in vitro that increasing DHA only correspondingly increased phosphatidylserine synthesis in neuronal cells, but not in other non-neuronal cells such as CHO-K1, NIH-3T3 and HEK-293. By supplementing DHA, an increase in total phosphatidylserine was found in both neuronal and non-neuronal cells.
● Professional study2
H.Y. also found that total phosphatidylserine levels were 23% lower in freshly isolated cerebellar granule cells during in vitro neural culture than before isolation. The most pronounced decrease in AA and DHA-PS was observed during the isolation process. Over a period of 7 days, the basal substance of PS in cerebellar granule cells decreased by approximately 43% and total phosphatidylserine decreased by nearly 52%, but the decrease in PS was effectively prevented by supplementation with 1 μmol/L of DHA.
